ORS has arranged a discounted rate for the online portion of parent taught driver’s education for our UB and UBMS students. TexasDrivingSchool.com will charge $45 (regularly $99) for students to complete the classroom portion of parent taught driver’s education online. ORS is not able to pay for any portion of this program and students cannot use time working on driver’s ED to earn UB/UBMS stipend monies.
Please follow the steps listed below to expedite your driver’s education:
Step 1: Complete the Request for a Parent Taught Driver Education (P.T.D.E) packet from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Click the link that reads, "I want to order a Parent Taught Driver Education Packet". You will need your parent or legal guardian's contact info to complete this process. There is a $20 fee to complete the registration.
Step 2: Go to www.texasdrivingschool.com/upwardbound and register for the Parent Taught Driver’s ED. You will be prompted for the $45 payment at registration.
Step 3: Complete the first unit of the online course (6 hours) and apply for a Texas drivers permit if 15 or older. A learner's permit, also known as an instructional permit, is required in order to start behind-the-wheel training.
Step 4: Complete the remaining 26 hours of online course work. You are not required to have a learner’s permit to complete the rest of the online course, but it is highly recommended
Step 5: Complete the required 44 hours of behind-the-wheel driver training with a parent or legal guardian. ORS is not providing any behind-the-wheel training.
ORS waves any and all liability regarding TexasDrivingSchool.com's business practices, status of licensing, quality of programming, or accuracy of course material. TexasDrivingSchool.com is listed as an approved vendor for the TXDPS.
